Cornea transplants
- Penetrating transplantation consists in a full thickness tissue transplantation. After keratoconus procedure, translucency of keratoconus cornea transplant is 95%. Often, however, as a result of wound healing, high astigmatism appears in which immunosuppressive drugs are used – locally or generally. Astigmatism is corrected with high lenses.
- Layer transplantation in case of keratoconus – the procedure is that the layer is removed down to Descemet membrane, which causes that the risk of transplant rejection intra and post- operative complications is lower.
